The future is history.

A lone time traveler from the year 2035 must solve a riddle that may save his people... but it may also take him to the brink of madness. Bruce Willis, Madeleine Stowe and Brad Pitt star in this brilliant sci-fi masterpiece from Terry Gilliam, the acclaimed director of The Fisher King. After the world's population is devastated by a killer virus, survivors must live in dank underground communities. Cole (Willis) "volunteers" to travel into the past to obtain a pure virus sample, thereby helping scientists develop a cure. Along the way, he crosses paths with a beautiful psychiatrist (Stowe) and a one-card-short-of-a-full-deck mental patient (Pitt). But the race is on, as Cole searches for The Army of the 12 Monkeys, a radical group linked to the deadly disease. With unforgettable performances and imaginative special effects, 12 Monkeys is a modern-day classic laced with Gilliam's trademark wit and dazzling visual style.

Excellent time-travel paradox story which will keep you guessing till the end. And the musical score is fantastic!

Interesting...Brad Pitt is not his usual matinee idol self in this one but is still worth watching. The patient/doctor thing goes on a bit but the viris/time travel idea that dominates the story kind of overrides these hiccups.

Great movie, really enjoyed, held my attention. Would recommend, not to hard to follow either

Enjoyed the interesting and darkness of it. Possibly bits of the plot that wouldn't hold up too much examination but that's the case with most plots involving time. Brad Pitt at his best before all the Rom Coms.

I just didn't get this movie at all. Maybe I need to watch it again? I'm not a big movie watcher - this is probably the 10th movie I've seen in as many years, so maybe that's why. I mean I'm not... Read more

a good sci fi story line, that the viewer can slowly piece together throughout the movie. Was a little bit predictable due to the way the movie let itself be prodictable, but there were bits of twists... Read more
