Thrown in are some horriffic scenes of the rabid victims killing the unaffected, and also the unaffected killing the infected.

The scenes of the main characters driving along the deserted M1 are superb, and have a real feel of the end of civilisation.

Plenty of shocks and jolts for the horror fan, with little humour give this film a disturbingly dark tone, which is always good in a film like this !

The story takes a completely different path when the survivors go to an army post, and steps up again as the situation changes from bad to worse for all involved ....................

28 Days Later may not be a strict horror film, but it sure as hell pleased this horror fan !

To be honest I wasn't to sure of the story line (kinda been done before) or the lead male,as he was like a nervous man on drugs in the film Red eye.

The story line was a bit of old & new mixed together while zombie movies are a thing of a past in this movie the director buffs it up by mixing dead walking people that have a life threating disease that can be passed on by the blood just entering your eye!

You could compare this film to such others like 'Dawn of the dead & I am legend sort of put together but the British/Irish cast I feel really make this move one of there own.While I thought I'd be on the edge of my seat a little more I was still engrossed by the horrific monsters and the characters' will to live. So to sum it up If you enjoy the dawn of the dead movies you'll enjoy this one

"The infected" are those remaining victims of the virus - the symptoms of which are solely, an appalling, mindless, incomprehensible rage. Their sole activity is to viciously and terrifyingly attack any other uninfected living being they encounter.

The small band of survivors spend their hours evading the infected, whilst trying to formulate a plan for longer term survival.

Arranging for London's landmarks to be completely free of people for shooting key scenes was a phenomenal achievement by the producers, however the lack of corpses, parked/crashed vehicles seemed at odds with the basis of the story. The "abandoned" effect is eery, but doesn't quite ring true somehow.

Ultimately, the theme comes through that the threat to survival is not from "the infected", but from other surviving humans. "Humanity vs. humanity" and all that - but it is effective because our human values change beyond imagination when faced with the extinction, or continuation, of our species.

The movie is genuinely scary at times, but seems slow and plodding at others - particularly in the first half or so. Well worth a watch, but don't expect to be leaping out of your seat every second minute.
