In this David Cronenberg-helmed biopic, Viggo Mortensen stars as Sigmund Freud, whose relationship with fellow psychology luminary Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender) is tested when Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley), one of the first female psychoanalysts, enters their lives. This World War I-set drama also stars Vincent Cassel as Otto Gross, a disciple of Freud, and Sarah Gadon, who plays Jung's psychoanalyst wife.

Despite the great cast line-up it seemed to drag but persevered and thought it was OK at best. However, it did provide some good historical context of personalities, politics and world events.

totally agree thought it was going to really good but it was just boring gave up watching just couldnt do it .give it a miss unless you need to be put to sleep

The Freud/Jung relationship might seem interesting, but this movie makes it seem not so at all. The whole thing feels longer than it actually is...and very little of anything exciting happens during the entire movie.

The props and costumes are superb but why waste them on a romance when there are more important things at hand.

unlike the other reviews I enjoyed the film immensely, although deep it twisted and turned and the ending was inevitable but leaves you with a feeling that psychoanalysts are as mad as everybody else.

Being a huge fan of Cronenberg and Mortensen led me to expect too much in this slow-moving, sterile portrayal of a provocative subject. Knightly overacts...again.

I couldn't get into this movie. At least, the actors spoke with German accents. It's very hard to grasp at the beginning and then it loses you.
