Tom Stall (Viggo Mortensen) is living a happy and quiet life with his lawyer wife, Edie (Maria Bello) and their two children in the small town of Millbrook, Indiana, but one night their idyllic existence is shattered when Tom foils a vicious attempted robbery in his diner. Sensing danger, he takes action and saves his customers and friends in the self-defence killings of two sought-after criminals.

Heralded as a hero, Tom's life is changed overnight, attracting a national media circus, which forces him into the spotlight. Uncomfortable with his newfound celebrity, Tom tries to return to the normalcy of his ordinary life only to be confronted by a mysterious and threatening man (Ed Harris) who arrives in town believing Tom is the man who wronged him in the past.

As Tom and his family fight back against this case of mistaken identity and struggle to cope with their changed reality, they are forced to confront their relationships and the divisive issues which surface as a result.

Totally unimpressed with this. Thought that with Mortensen & Harris acting it would've been a top-notch movie but I was disappointed. Some scenes were unnecessary and way out plain dumb. *General Lee*

Slow and plodding. The acting was very average and I gave up watching it. Don't bother with this one.

It was a bit different kind of movie to my taste, to forgetable drama-ish so to speak; it starts slow and build in the end. But I'm a bit impatience for this kind of genre of drama. I expected more... Read more

I found this film quite odd. It's not as violent as the title would have us believe and the history is not as shocking. The acting is fine but the story lacks something and the movie was slow in places... Read more
