This movie is a real classic! It has the fortune of not having dated too much (other than the ship's computer!) and is filled with suspense. The special effects are still solid today and it will have you on the edge of your seat!

Like the sign says, classic all the way. A sure sign of a classic Si-Fi is that it doesn't date, or at least that it ages well. This is certainly the case here, although you have all the decor of a... Read more
seventies future, the story, the charactors, and the atmosphere are all still right there. If you liked it then, see it again on DVD, its got some extra footage and all the 5.1 bells and wistles of the digital format. If you havn't seen it, rent it. All good.

Excellent, with it's only weakness being the general odiousness of the characters which tends to make you barrack for the alien. Creepy, groundbreaking, transformative of the entire moribund genre. Compulsory.

Always a classic if your like Sci-Fi thrills. It is one of the best sci-fi movies out there and is one that will be watched again and again over the years. I would recommend this to anybody who likes alien type thrills.

From director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Troy) comes one of the great horror films of the 70s and in reality of all time. Jam packed with tension and a impressive cast including newcomer Sigourney Weaver... Read more
(Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurection, Dave, Working girl, Ghoastbusters 1 & 2) along with more seasoned actors like Tom Skerrit (Top Gun, TVs Picket Fences), John Hurt (1984, V for Vendetta) and Ian Holm (LOTR trillogy). With amazing set design, great special effects (even for today), and some very bloody sceens including the now famous chest bursting scene this is a must see for both Sci-Fi and horror fans alike. The story - The Nostromo, a commercial towing vehicle - essentially the space equivelent of a mack truck comes across a derelict alien space ship. One of the crew (Hurt) is brought back on board with an alien creature attached to him which later bursts forth in gory detail to begin hunting the crew. The film which would spawn 3 direct sequels and a fifth spinoff (Alien vs Predator) is one of the most successful Sci-fi franchises ever made. The disc contains both the 1979 cnematic release and Scotts 2003 Directors cut both digitally remastered in THX. An impressive film in 1979 and still as impressive now.

Still the best horror film ever. It was good to see the extended version with the scenes returned of the crew in the wall, etc.

I never get sick of watching the Alien Movie and rewatching the the first Movie again was even better. The extra footage puts a whole new spin on the movie and much easier to watch. Looking forward to seeing the other 8 discs.
