Not too thrilled with this thriller. Gratuitous sex, voices too quiet, a very seventies directing style. Hoffman his usual excellent self in one of his usual creepy roles. Finney good. (Why does he... Read more always play Americans these days?) Satisfying ending.
Well-made film with thoroughly unlikeable characters.
Yeah, that's truly hell. A well made movie. You see it through the perspective of the different characters. Recommended

This movie gets your emotions boiling. A real provoker. Love it or hate it, you won't forget it in a hurry. He just gets better and better, and what I like about him is you get a sense that he's giving you all he's got. He isn't one of those actors concerned about 'looking good'. Great movie portraying the desperate situations some people get themselves into and the downward spiral they cause.
The storyline was good but I thought they made a bit of a dog's breakfast of it with too much jumping backwards and forwards.
Wow! I found this movie very absorbing and with a high sense of dread! The acting by by both Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke was fantastic. It is a long movie.
Great acting, great dialogue; a very watchable film. Philip Seymour-Hoffmann is masterful as ever in his characterisation of an amoral, damaged man.
Intriguing story with some great acting. A fine example of people getting themselves into deeper trouble through money worries. Well worth viewing.
