Master filmmaker Sidney Lumet (The Verdict Dog Day Afternoon Serpico) scores big with this absorbing suspense thriller. OscarĀ®-winner* Philip Seymour Hoffman is Andy an overextended payroll executive who lures his younger brother Hank (Ethan Hawke) into a larcenous scheme: the pair will rob a suburban mom-and-pop jewelry store that appears to be the quintessential easy target. The problem is the store owners are Andy and Hank's real mom and pop and when the seemingly perfect crime goes awry the damage sends them hurtling toward a shattering climax.

Well-made film with thoroughly unlikeable characters.

Great movie portraying the desperate situations some people get themselves into and the downward spiral they cause.

The storyline was good but I thought they made a bit of a dog's breakfast of it with too much jumping backwards and forwards.

Wow! I found this movie very absorbing and with a high sense of dread! The acting by by both Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke was fantastic. It is a long movie.
