A typical Woody Allen drama. A riches to rags tale of a middle class housewife whose husband is imprisoned for dodgy business practices. The tax man reduces her to poverty and she goes to stay with... Read more her sister, well below her social scale. Not my sort of movie, but good performances all round. But what really saves the movie is the fantastic acting of Cate Blanchet - fabulous. Good direction and poignant observation of characterisation. One aspect puzzled me. The movie is described as 'brilliantly funny'. What? It is certainly not a comedy!!!
Not a 'comfortable' film, but astonishing acting by Cate Blanchett makes this a remarkable viewing experience. While Cate's character is somewhat unlikeable, you see enough of the forces of the past... Read more that have shaped her to have compassion for what she has become. The storyline is a highly topical morality tale.
Awesome film, one if my all time favourites. Blanchett steals the show, she was born for this role. Awkward and hilarious, Woody Allen at his best.
Found this one to be a bit strange, but on reflection it's because Cate Blanchett did such a great job of her acting that she annoyed me as I watched this - she acted without acting and had me convinced of her character.
Enjoyable film with Cate Blanchett as a thoroughly unlikeable character. Funny and intelligent.
I thought Blue Jasmine was a great movie. Ticked all the boxes for me. All the actors were great; the storyline was great; some humour and some pathos. As far as I'm concerned Woody Allen can do no wrong. Definitely a 5 star movie.
Interesting tale of a wonam with no moral compass who uses everybody she comes in contact with. Even when her life is at rock bottom she still thinks only about herself and what advantages she can gain... Read more from others.
There is some excellent character acting in this film by all the cast. However Cate Blanchett is especially good. Definitely one of Woody Allens better efforts.
Great movie with excellent acting by Cate Blanchett and her "sister". A good mix of drama and humour.
It's a rip off of the great Streetcar Named Desire, but Woody Allen is quite happy to admit that it is. There's so much about it that really terrific, but Cate Blanchette's near hysterical award winning... Read more performance just about derails it. Bobby Carnivale and Sally Hawkins steal the film. But if you are longing for a film for adults, this is a pretty good one.
too irritating for words, did not make it to the end
