1990 M Contains violence.

"As far back as I can remember, I've always wanted to be a gangster." -- Henry Hill, Brooklyn, N.Y. 1955.

When Martin Scorcese, one of the world's most skillful and respected directors, reunited with two-time Oscar-winner Robert De Niro in GoodFellas, the result was one of the most powerful films of the year. Based on the true-life best seller Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi and backed by a dynamic pop/rock oldies soundtrack, critics and filmgoers alike declared GoodFellas great. It was named 1990's best film by the New York, Los Angeles and National Society of Film Critics. And it earned six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director. Robert De Niro received wide recognition for his performance as veteran criminal Jimmy "The Gent" Conway. And as the volatile Tommy DeVito, Joe Pesci walked off with the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Academy Award nominee Lorraine Bracco, Ray Liotta and Paul Sorvino also turned in electrifying performances. You have to see it to believe it - then watch again. GoodFellas explores the criminal life like no other movie.

Nobody beats this director. He is a piece of work. He is well known for finding stories and bringing them to life where most directors wont even go! A must see..

This is one of the classic gangster films you must not miss. DeNiro, Pesci and especially Liotta at the hieght of their acting power.

A classic mafia film -it follows the life of an ordinary boy through to his involvement with the most powerful crime-family in New York. Ray Liotta is the main character but the supporting cast is a... Read more

Great direction and acting - but didn't find anything particularly different/surprising about the plot/storyline. Exciting but predictable in many ways.

Scorcese humps that one note like there's no tomorrow + if all you need is cheeseball commentary, playground misogyny + another Pesci stabby fit, you'll clasp this to your undemanding bosom. It's okay but it's not a classic.

Aside from the ending this movie was riveting to watch. All performances were excellent, especially Joe Pesci and Lorraine Bracco. Of course Ray Liotta was fantastic as well, but I really enjoyed watching Joe Pesci in his role.
