Great acting. You need great attention to understand the story. Would not watch it again.
Very well done Leonardo DiCaprio. A difficult character to portray. I knew this story would be long - but so was J Edgar Hoover's FBI rule. I got what I wanted - a look into decisions he made, and reasons why.
Well directed by Mr Eastwood (as usual) and well acted all round but I found this film slow and plodding and in the end not the powerful story as I had imagined it would be. The film slightly played... Read more down the homosexuality of the man and the cross dressing aspects which seemed to me that the makers wanted to sustain Edgar's integrity as much as possible rather than sticking to the absolute truth of the story. Slightly disappointing.
Interesting film that depicts a powerful man with a secret and a vulnerable side. A complex egoistic character, not likeable, but the film illustrates perhaps why he became what he was. A good film well acted.
definitely a good portrayal of Mr Hoover! very good acting and a great insight into the man, excellent viewing.
I really enjoyed this film. Leonardo DiCaprio was outstanding in the lead role. The acting was amazing and the film managed to hold my attention, despite some slow parts. Not a movie that I would... Read more watch again, but still worth 4 stars in my opinion.
A great movie and a enjoyable watch too. Gives a good account of the life of J. Edgar Hoover. A job well done by Leonardo DiCaprio. Gives a good account of Hoovers life with Clyde Toulson. Well recommended movie.
As expected, diCaprio did a lot of *acting*. However, the story itself dragged. It really sbould have either focused on the politics or his relationship, instead of trying to have a bob each way.
Fails to maintain interest - a character its hard to empathise with.
Quite long, although Leonardo does a fantastic job in portraying Hoover. Somewhat superficial in parts.
