1997 M Contains violence.

Off the record, on the QT, and very hush-hush...

L.A. Confidential is "tough, gorgeous and vastly entertaining" (Janet Maslin, The New York Times), "a genuine masterpiece that will knock your socks off" (Rex Reed) and won 1997 Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress (Kim Basinger) and Best Adapted Screenplay (Brian Helgeland & Curtis Hanson). Director Curtis Hanson and a terrific cast serve up a "ravishing, thrilling tale of police corruption and Hollywood glamour" (Marshall Fine, Gannett Newspapers) in this film version of James Ellroy's novel. Three cops (Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce), a call girl (Kim Basinger), a mysterious millionaire (David Strathairn), a tabloid journalist (Danny DeVito), and the Chief of Detectives (James Cromwell) fuel a labyrinthine plot rife with mystery, ambition, romance and humor.

With a great cast and fantastic storyline this is the benchmark film for other crime films to measure up to. With brilliant acting this is one of those movies where the date of production is not relevant... Read more

Great watch, Russell Crowe is brilliant as Bud White (he should have got an oscar nod for this, rather than for GLADIATOR) Classic!!!

Very enjoyable, great line up of acting talent with each big name getting a very solid character and pulling them off so well. Loved Kevin Spacey's role in particular. Fun viewing.

Ok movie if you like old movies. I found it a bit long and tedious, was glad when it ended.

With this cast, this had to be a good movie. The story line is engaging and based on a novel, which depicts the corrupt and seemy side of the LA police of that era. One can only hope things have changed... Read more

Enjoyed this movie which keeps you glued to the screen, as you try to keep up with all the plots running simutaneously. Danny Di Vito is his usual great gangster type self even as a reporter.

Has to be one of the best crime films ever. It's got everything you need for a good crime thriller. Great acting from a legendary cast puts the icing on the cake.
