THE BEST OF ALL THE LOTR MOVIES... sets new standards for cinematic excellence. The cast is good and Peter Jackson has his audience completely captivated.

Quite a lot of battles but you feel that this one was quite grim as it's to be expected. The final of the trilogy and you walk away quite satisfied.

Great Scenery and Awesome effects make me proud to be a New Zealander. This movie has the best of both worlds - Love/Romance, Action/Adventure and an all round great story. May be slightly long for... Read more
those that can't sit still and slow in places but over all this movie is fantastic. The third in a truly epic trilogy it is unparralled and ties the story up nicely.

The movie is about man's will to defeat his oppressors and fulfil his destiny as the rulers of middle earth.
I liked the movie because of it's strong message of good triumphing over evil. I also... Read more
found the cinematography to be precedent setting in the approach. Peter Jackson kept extremely true to the original story, and, once again, excelled in his editing. For lovers of the written word, keep an eye out for the extended version. PJ fluidly added all the bits you would have been disappointed to miss in this theatrical release.

Too long. Too many endings. Too much hype. Too much going on at once.

I almost don't believe that the last film in the trilogy was filmed simultaneously with the first two. It feels as if Peter Jackson simply got bored after two movies and decided to pack the last three... Read more
hour instalment with every Hollywood cliche he could think of to liven it up. There are still moments of storytelling genius, but they feel few and far between, taking a back seat to CGI battles, giant spiders, and Arwen and Aragorn's overly extended love story. Now, having also seen King Kong and The Lovely Bones, it appears Jackson's directing style has changed to simply throwing money at a film and waiting for the Academy Awards.

Well the academy proved it once again - there is nothing bigger than Ben Hur! For the second time in history a film matched Ben Hurs number of wins in the Oscars (11) but like Titanic could just not... Read more
quite get there! Peter Jacksons third (I would say final hobbit film but rumour has it that he has secured the rights to make The Hobbit) installment of the LOTR is film making on the grandest scale and would be rated as one of the top 10 achievements in film making. Helped by a great cast, fantastic script and eye popping special effects and HUGE battle scenes LOTR The Return of the King is not only a crowning acheivement for NZ film but for film in general. Bring on King Kong!
