Really enjoyed this moving story - difficult to watch at times, but true - so all the more moving. Hard to believe this sort of thing goes on around the world, and we are so often totally unaware.
Not for me. Boring storyline and so-so acting. Sorry, not my cuppa tea :P
Powerful true story about a reckless druggie who finds God and then is led to go and use his skills to fight for the children of the Sudan. While there, he faces incredible challenges which at one... Read more point causes him to lose the plot but then get back on track again. To this day, the work of Sam Childers is ongoing. The film is very raw and brutal in parts, making it a bit hard to watch, but all of that is probably necessary to portray the reality of the crimes that take place in Uganda. Well worth a watch, but don't expect light viewing. And in the beginning, the language is a bit rough as well, but that is before Sam finds his faith. The transformation of Sam is also realistically portrayed.
This is a bad execution of a good story, the fact that the movie could have been much better just makes it harder to watch. The writer and director never figure out what to do with Childers character... Read more, plus the movie ends at a really random point.
The world needs more men like Sam Childers, what he has done for the children of Sudan is awe inspiring & this movie makes you think about how lucky we really are. Difficult at times to watch, but reality... Read more shouldn't be prettied up so as not to upset anyone, the world NEEDS to open its eyes to this sort of thing. A must see movie.
Very good movie. Brought the reality of what happens in other less fortunate parts of the world into my lounge. Well worth watching.
Some of the God bits come across quite cheesy but this remarkable true story could not be told without them. Butler gives a career defining performance.
Very well made film of a true story of an amazingly brave and committed man who turns from being one of the bad guys to being a truly great human being. An exeptional story if a tad too long but still comes highly recommended.
