Great cartoon, must see. Not for children under 12? Even better than spirited away.

This is a fantastic film - its well up there with Hayao Miyazaki's other epic Animes 'Spirited Away', 'Princess Mononoke', 'Laputa - Castle In The Sky', 'Kiki's Delivery Service' and 'Porco Rosso'.

is one of those films that everyone can love - from 10 year olds all the way to your Grandpa. Hayao's ability to completely magic you away to the world and time where the story occurs is most definitely one of his best abilities, and I think he manages to do that well in this, one of his earliest directorial projects (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and this film would probably be my top 3 Hayao Miyazaki films).Although this was released back in 1984, the standard of animation can still be counted as fantastic - still well above a lot of the rubbish that is put out these days.
The creativity and thought that went into the myriad of insects that live in the poisonous jungle, along with the great Ohmu, the fabulous flying machines and everything else in this movie is outstanding, and thankfully, Studio Ghibli has once again done a superb effort with the English version of the audio (Uma Thurman gives us Nausicaa’s voice).
My rating: 5 stars. If you like Animé, then this is a must see (make sure you see the rest of Hayao Miyazaki's films that Movie shack have!). Fantastic story, fantastic animation, fantastic audio… fantastic!

A perfect family Anime adventure, with a good eco moral.

Barely a 3 out of 5 movie. After the hype I was expecting more than this. But it's trite, soppy and about as deep as a puddle on the sink bench, never mind the 'eco' theme that is barely just mentioned... Read more
a couple of times in the movie. The animation, however, is a joy to watch and it's the redeeming feature here.

Considering the movie was made back in 1982, although there are some slacks (or obvious goofs) in it, I think it's a fairly well made with a unique story line about human being and ecosystem. The background... Read more
music, although sounds good, sometimed destroyed the vibes as they didn't appear at the proper scenes. Overall, worth watching ;)

Valley of the Wind looked like a good cartoon in an interesting style- but the girls (7 and 10) were quickly bored as it had a strong 'war' theme to it.

Such a fantastic tale. My son watched this three times and has been totally obsessed with the creatures in this movie. If you like anime and have seen spirited away, howls moving castle... etc... then you will love this one too!

Not my cup of tea. I wasn't fussed on all the shooting etc. The story line wasn't bad but I felt it didn't fit well with the type of animation - they were aimed at two different age groups.
