I loved this movie, the story was great and I loved the great actors of yesterday. any of hitchcock directed films will always be the best and a real classic of its time.
North by Northwest is set in the late 1950's or 1960's I imagine, but it is still excellent entertainment along the James Bond themes where the hero is never stuck for a plan to escape from what appears... Read more to be an impossible situation.
I can recomment this DVD, it is suitable for everyone.
Quite simply a classic film. You can easily see that this movie provided the template for
most of the action movies of the past three decades. Feels a little old fashioned in places

Absolutely Brilliant! Cary Grant at his best. A real old fashioned suspense movie - right up until the end.
Absolute classic, great movie, way way better than I had expected for a film of it's age. Some of the witty one-liners were fantastic - I didn't think Hitchcock had any semblance of a sense of humour... Read more, I was completely wrong!! You DO NOT need fancy special effects or CGI to make great films (most made these days rely solely on them to get by on, rather than decent acting or a halfway intelligent script) Watch it!
If you love Mad Men, James Bond 007 with Sean Connery, Maxwell Smart and Johnny English you will be intrigued by this movie. Cary Grant's Roger Thornhill, the film's spiffily dressed Advertising Executive is sucked into a vortex of mistaken identity. I now see where The 007 franchise sprung from - get this!!! A time when Men were Men and Women were Women.
Was blown away by the stunning cinematography, particularly knowing how many years ago this film was produced. This really is an enduring masterpiece.
On blue-ray disc North By Northwest looks absolutely stunning, especially considering it was filmed 52 years ago. Wow!
Good fun. Seems quite corny by today's standards (such as they are). But how refreshing not to have pseudo sex scenes, loads of foul language and outrageous implausible special effects. I enjoyed it... Read more and. despite its length, it kept my attention throughout.
An oldie, but a good watch none the less. We enjoyed it!
