In August 1949, LIFE Magazine ran a headline that begged the question "Jackson Pollock: Is he the greatest living painter in the United States?" Already well known in the New York art world, Pollock had become a household name - America's first "Art Star" - and his controversial style of painting (as typified by the infamous 'Blue Poles') continued to change the course of modern art. But the torments that plagued the artist all his life continued to haunt him. As he struggled with self-doubt, engaging in a lonely tug-of-war between needing to express himself and wanting to shut the world out, Pollock began a downward spiral that ended in his tragic death at the age of 44.Academy Award nominee ED HARRIS delivers an astonishing performance as the star of POLLOCK...and as director, he has brought together an extraordinary ensemble cast (including VAL KILMER, JENNIFER CONNELLY, JOHN HEARD and Oscar winner MARCIA GAY HARDEN) to bring the life of Jackson Pollock to the screen in a dynamic, passionate and utterly unforgettable motion picture.

First rate movie. Excellent portrayal by Ed Harris of the tortured artist. You get to see a lot of the artist's paintings as well as seeing them being created.

For the sake of the depiction of Pollock's life and work this is good, shows many of his works, the man himself was, well you'll see.

Although this was a fascinating movie about Jackson Pollocks life, it moved far too slowly.
