I was surprised by this movie, I thought it would have been a lot like Russell's other movies but it was quite different in terms of not as much gore in the fight scenes etc. I really loved it. It painted... Read more a great story of how Robin Hood came to be and it seemed more realistic than other Robin Hood stories I've seen. It was long and probably could have been shortened but I didn't mind the length as I think it made for telling the story more.

I wanted to like this movie, I expected to like it, but it fell flat. At least an hour of it could have been edited out. Watch the 1991 version starring Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman for a different, but far better told, story.
While the settings and most performances were really good, Crowe's penchant for inaudible dialogue spoiled things.

Surprised that I enjoyed this...with all the hype and advertising of this Movie was prepared to be disappointed.
Like others I wanted to like this, but too long and short on action for length of movie. Needed to be more historical or more Robin Hood fantasy adventure, seemed to fall somewhere in between. Appeared... Read more to want to lead us into a follow up movie, I wont be there. Still plenty of others liked this movie so cant be all bad
Why so long? Some interest provided by the supporting performers Eileen Atkins, Mark Strong, Max Von S but really we didn't need another archery film.
Surprisingly good movie. If you don't like Crowe, you'll still be able to stand it. A good telling of the story, especially when you realise it's a prequel to the legend you know. A good watch.
Not bad for a rainy day. Wouldn t watch it again though.
