I was surprised by this movie, I thought it would have been a lot like Russell's other movies but it was quite different in terms of not as much gore in the fight scenes etc. I really loved it. It painted... Read more
a great story of how Robin Hood came to be and it seemed more realistic than other Robin Hood stories I've seen. It was long and probably could have been shortened but I didn't mind the length as I think it made for telling the story more.

I wanted to like this movie, I expected to like it, but it fell flat. At least an hour of it could have been edited out. Watch the 1991 version starring Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman for a different, but far better told, story.

While the settings and most performances were really good, Crowe's penchant for inaudible dialogue spoiled things.

I found this movie disappointing, Russell Crowe had the personality of a dead fish, the action was good when there was some, nice scenery. It may have been British like it was supposed to be, but id... Read more

If your looking for a good Robin Hood film then look elsewhere. Ridley Scott attempts what he did with Gladiator and this time it falls short. The bad guys (Prince John, The Sheriff etc) just aren't... Read more
that bad, Russell Crowe's acting isn't up to the standard that won him an Oscar. Even Kate Blanchette seems to just be going through the motions.Personally if you want Robin Hood then Kevin Costner's Prince of Thieves is a better example - at least the Sheriff gave you a chuckle in that one.

Absolutely brilliant! I expected the same old same old but this was so different and Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett were in their element as were the rest of the famous cast. A truly remarkable film.

Great performances from the two uber stars, just a pity there was no chemistry between them. This could be because Cate really hates Russel in real life, or that they worked so hard on Marion's strong... Read more
independent identity, then when she suddenly hooks up with a take-charge kinda guy it didn't make any sense. The best part of the movie is the castle siege near the start. The evil king John character was the silly cliche dandy out of touch with humanity. Otherwise great costumes and settings and when there actually is action it is good but short lived. Not light hearted like Prince of Thieves, but fails as a serious adaption.
