If you are one of those people who hate sub-titled films, this is the movie to break you of your aversion. The story (which is retold three times from different angles), concerns how Lola is trying to save her boyfriend Manni, a junior league gangster, from getting killed for losing thousands of dollars from his bosses. After failing miserably at her first attempt, the film then rewinds to the start of the story again, and shows how simple different choices can cause a totally different outcome.

If the story sounds simple, it is, but also delightful as you see the changes and the different affects all the characters have on each other. Famke Potente, who was in The Bourne Identity with Mark Wahlberg, is a revelation as Lola. Willing to do anything to save her good but thick man, Lola is one of the most appealing women in film I have ever seen. Very driven, she runs literally through the whole film, wanting some good to come out of the horrible position she finds herself in.

Mixing animation with jump cuts and a cutting edge soundtrack, the film zips along at a cracker pace, never flags for a minute and has more inventiveness than most films put together. Truly terrific.
