The title and advertising bill board doesn't do it justice.
It's a great film, about the rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda in the 70s. Both are diametrically opposed in character. Lauda... Read more as the more skilled driver, but Hunt is more agressive disregarding safety and, as the film progresses through the 1976 Grand prix year, the tension builds nicely between the two. It's better if you can't recall the original outcome as it's factual, as I didn't. But even if you do, the build up will still draw you in.
Britain's Hunt is the proverbial hedonistic playboy, risk taker and womaniser. Austrian Lauda is cold, calculating and utterly professional. Their compelling antipathy is nicely delivered, great acting and good settings. Both drivers have their flaws and positives and this is brought out well in the film.
It's fast, interesting and has enough depth to hold people who are not motor racing aficionados. Give it a go!
This was one of the best movies I've seen this year - highly recommended to all, motorsport heroes and the masses. Excellent.
Kind of pedestrian in its portrayal of real life events. RH does a good job technically, but the character build is not there, so there is no emotional attachment to them. If you remember these people... Read more then maybe it would be totally worthwhile to see. If you never heard of these people, then no one is stopping you from staying that way.
Not just for petrol heads! Two completely different personalities yet both winners. Fascinating and tragic.
Enjoy the film that much went out and bought the DVD Both Olvia Wilde and Chris Hemsworth nail the characters superbly.
Very good movie with amazing casting - the characters looked like the people they were portraying. Seamless integration of original footage. Great rivalry between Hunt and Lauda, who were totally... Read more different in personality. Enjoyed it very much.
Boring from Hollywood's favourite director. Shouldn't be promoting environmental killers today.
I missed seeing this at the movies, but am so glad it arrived in the mail. This is a great movie, with fantastic performances by Chris Hemsworth & Daniel Bruhl. I am not a motorsport fan, but I would recommend this movie to anyone.
