Absolutely loved this movie and even the extra's. The sort of movie you can share with elderly relatives, nostalgic with no sex or violence. Highly recommend this movie and waited a long time to get a copy.
I enjoyed this movie and interesting look into the story behind the story and the therapy of Mary Poppins for a woman with a sometimes difficult childhood. It's a drama, quite well acted but don't... Read more expect a lot of action, still I thought an interesting story line. Tom Hanks does well as Disney and brings some life into the story and Emma Thompson plays her role very convincingly in that very proper English manner - despite her character having grown up in early 20thC Australia, which created an interesting contradiction in her character.
Very interesting movie. We where pleasantly surprised.Good acting all round.Give it a look.
Even my husband watched this and he is a matrix kind of guy. He was humouring me, but said at the end what a good film, we both love tom but this was not his best. Colin Farrell stole it for me, what... Read more a charismatic guy, rent it, you won't be disappointed.
A very gentle story. The flashbacks were a bit overdone and predictable. The acting saved the story line. Gives a twist to Mary Popping.
iI enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to anyone it was well acted
The start of this movie nearly made me give up watching it, I attempted it on 3 different days, once it got going I actually stayed awake and wanted to watch it till the end, even has a few tear jerking moments, really enjoyed it in the end
Was looking forward to this movie but was very much let down, drab story line that will bore the socks off you. I lasted 30 minutes and I couldn't take any more and had to turn it off. I like Emma Thompson... Read more but in this movie she literally made me want to throttle her. Rent this if you like slow and annoying!
A great story on a bit of history that I did not know. The director added a bit of intrigue to the movie which added extra value for me. Well worth watching, especially for people who know the movie Mary Poppins.
It's a lovely looking, pleasant watch, but as it's a Disney production they've taken the soft option regarding the real ms Travers, who was by all accounts a truly awful woman. The two leads are excellent... Read more, and Colin Farrell delivers with the charisma. it's very enjoyable, but only half the story.
