Col. Frank Slade has a very special plan for the weekend. It involves travel, women, good food, fine wine, the tango, chauffeured limousines and a loaded forty-five. And he's bringing Charlie along for the ride.

Al Pacino won his first "Best Actor" Oscar for his brilliant portrayal of an overbearing, blind retired Lieutenant Colonel who hires a young guardian (Chris O'Donnell), to assist him. It's a heart-wrenching and heartwarming tale of opposites attracting when they embark on a wild weekend trip that will change the lives of both men forever.

Oldie but a goodie. Excellent portrayal of relationship between naive student and old man. One of Pacino's finest roles, marking him as an actor with few equals. Shows up newbie Chris O'Donnell's... Read more

Al Pacino certainly deserved the oscar he got for this film based on his brilliant portrail of a very lonely man who tricked his young companion into taking him on what was to be his last big fling. Very watchable

A very unexpected movie - Al Pacino was great of course, as was Chris O'Donnell. I had not heard of this movie before and found it very enjoyable. Quite intense in places. What a change a weekend can make!

A very good 19 year old type movie, very enjoyable with superb acting from all the cast, especially Al Pacino.

Almost didn't continue watching this as slow to start but it soon picked up so I sat back and enjoyed a superb portrayal of a very special relationship between two unlikely people. Emotional and heartwarming.

This is a good movie, definitely worth a watch. Great performance by Al Pacino. Only downside is the length which was taxing at times. A lot of things could have been edited out. Good movie.

Pretty good except for the failed murder/suicide scene that is more a failure of script than Pacino's efforts.
