After her father is murdered by drifter Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin), 14-year-old Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld), hires Reuben "Rooster" Cogburn (Jeff Bridges), an alcoholic U.S. Marshal, to help her exact vengeance. The disreputable Rooster still has grit though, and mounts an epic search. The pair is joined on their quest by Texas Ranger LaBoeuf (Matt Damon), who is also hunting for Chaney, in this updated Western from Joel and Ethan Coen.

Never seen the original but this movie was very good, Hailee was amazing and the story rolled along well. The ending was a little weird and could have been better but don't let that put you off. Worth the watch.

A great Western story. Beautiful scenery, lots of humour and some pretty raw scenes at times. A slower film, and like Jessy James (also Coen bros) in many ways.

Excellent. Hailee deserved to get an Oscar. Brilliant actress seeing shes only 16.

Excellent film! Definitely one of the Coen Bros' best. Hailee Steinfeld should've been nominated for Best Lead Actress, though, as her character is the main character of the film, not just a supporting character. Anyway, I highly recommend it!

Didn't realise this was a Coen brothers film to the end - not as funny as their previous stuff, but an entertaining modern take on westerns. One for the boys and and the girls.
